4 Amazing Kiss Curiosities You May Not Know

1 - On the right slant

You may never have paid much attention to how you bow your head when you kiss - after all, who's going to be into these things at a time like this! - but one study found that most people lean to the right (yes, dear reader, have done some scientific research on this) and scientists have even developed a theory about reason.

The study was conducted by scientists from the UK and Bangladesh and involved 48 couples. After analyzing the participants, the researchers found that 74% tilted their heads to the right when kissing - and found that men are 15 times more likely to take the initiative than women.

As to why most incline their heads to the same side, scientists have explained that the inclination usually corresponds to the side of our dominant hand - and since most of the population is right-handed, that's why the right-leaning is more common. Researchers theorize that this has to do with how the brain distributes activities between the two hemispheres of the brain, especially in the areas that control our emotions and decision making.

2 - Demonstration of affection or exhibitionism?

What do you think when you see couples kissing passionately: that they are showing affection or that they are just exhibitionists? For research conducted by scientists at the University of Kansas has revealed that most people "hang out" in public as pure exhibitionism - and they only do so because there are people watching.

The study was conducted with 350 people of both sexes aged 17-35, and although most agree with the option of exhibitionism, men and women seem to have different motivations for doing the show.

In the case of boys, they kiss in public to prove that they are able to gain (and maintain) the attention of attractive women and, ultimately, to show off to friends and other men. In the case of girls, more than 50% of those who participated in the study admitted that public “grabs” were used to provoke jealousy in old boyfriends and even other women.

3 - Stress Therapy

Have you noticed how normal it is to feel relaxed after giving someone good kisses? Look, according to a study by scientists at the University of Oxford, England, this feeling is not just an impression! The survey involved the participation of 52 people in serious relationships whose task was to kiss their partners more often than usual or as often as ever over a period of one and a half months.

In the meantime, the scientists took blood samples and asked participants to answer some questionnaires. After analyzing the data obtained, the researchers found that those who had kissed their partners more often had significantly lower stress levels compared to those of people who normally followed their romantic routine.

4 - Smile Quality Counts More Than You Think

What most arouses your desire to kiss someone: the person's appearance, the fact that she has full and well-designed lips, the sensuality she exudes? According to a US study of nearly 200 women between the ages of 18 and 24, the determining factor in whether they decided to kiss or not was the other person's teeth.

More specifically, the researchers asked participants to review a list of characteristics related to their potential partners and give grades from 1 to 4 for each item. The survey found that the health and appearance of teeth was voted the most important - more than body beauty, face appearance and lip shape. So, you know, right? Take care of your smile with love!
