4 kidnappers who managed to escape their captors

It is difficult to predict how people will react when they face the danger. There are those who despair and pull their hair, who is petrified and can not leave place and who simply stops thinking straight.

On the other hand, there are also those who can stay calm and take the right time to act, such as the four examples we have gathered - from an article by the Cracked portal staff - of people who were kidnapped and managed to escape your captors. See below:

1 - The smart journalist

In 2010, Kosuke Tsuneoka, the Japanese you can see in the photo below, was acting as a war correspondent in Kunduz, Afghanistan, when he was captured by Hezbi Islami rebels - who threatened to kill him if Japan did not pay the ransom. But one fine day, five months after Kosuke was kidnapped, one of his captors decided to buy a smartphone and found he could not handle the device.

The Afghan must have seen Kosuke's drawn eyes and imagined that he understood things, as he asked the Japanese to help him set up his cell phone. The journalist then took the opportunity to introduce a wonderful new world to the rebel: the internet. Between downloading one application and another on the device, Kosuke sneakily installed Twitter, logged into his account, and warned everyone that he was still alive.

And a few minutes after the first tweet, Kosuke sent a second, stating his location and the name of his hijacker. In the end, the journalist was released the next day - and the justification given by the rebels was that the Japanese had been spared because he had converted to Islam.

2 - The talented actor

Can you recognize the guy in the following image? He is the British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, famous for playing Sherlock Homes in the "Sherlock" series and for his participation in films such as "12 Years of Slavery, " "The Imitation Game" and "Star Trek - Beyond Darkness." For about 10 years ago, while Cumberbatch was in South Africa recording a BBC miniseries called "To the Ends of the Earth" - he was kidnapped.

The actor was returning to the hotel with a South African castmate and friend when the trio had to stop midway to change the tire of their car. It was then that an armed gang appeared, began to search everyone for money, weapons and drugs and forced Cumberbatch and his escorts into the vehicle.

The three victims were gagged, and after the bandits had been around for a while, they stopped and tried to force Cumberbatch into the trunk of the car. At this point, the actor's artistic vein jumped, and he began arguing with the kidnappers, saying that if he were arrested in a small place, he would probably have an attack and die - and a dead British man in the trunk of the car. of the bad guys would be a big deal.

Luckily, the story stuck and the bad guys started arguing about what they were going to do with Cumberbatch and his friends. In the end, the three were released without any harm - and the actor deserved to receive an Oscar for his life-saving performance and that of his teammates.

3 - The ninja girl

Pay attention to the sweet and delicate little girl in the photo we inserted below. If you were a kidnapper, do you think you would have many problems with her? For the guys who kidnapped the girl - whose name is Erica Pratt - underestimated her childish fury and got along pretty badly.

It all happened in 2002, when Erica was 7 years old, and two rogues in the neighborhood heard that a family member of hers had just passed away and left life insurance. The bad guys went after Erica for thinking she would be an easy target; they captured her, blindfolded her, tied her little legs and little hands with silver tape, and threw her into a dark basement - to spend the night alone and frightened.

What the kidnappers didn't realize was that while they were busy negotiating the ransom, the little one tried to escape. So instead of giving in to fear, Erica spent the night gnawing at the tape holding her hands, and after she got rid of her, she released her legs, broke open the basement door and managed to reach a window - from where she began. scream like crazy.

The girl scandal alerted neighbors who in turn called the authorities. In a few minutes, Erica was safe, and the kidnappers - who, luckily, were not home by the time the girl escaped, or else she would probably have kicked their ass! - were found and arrested later.

4 - The audacious boy

Imagine you are with a group of backpackers venturing through the Colombian mountains when suddenly a band of guerrillas appears, and you are all kidnapped! What would you do? The Englishman Matthew Scott went through this situation in 2003 when he was 19; He waited for the right moment to rush down the mountain and jump off a cliff.

The guerrillas kidnapped eight tourists and led them all along a narrow trail on the side of the mountain when it began to rain heavily. Matthew took advantage of the poor visibility to escape and, hearing the sound of running water, jumped off the mountain hoping it was a river. The fearless young man got lucky, swam to one shore - and spent the next 12 days wandering the jungle until he found help.

And don't think that the time he spent walking was a joyous walk through the woods. Matthew spent all this time without food, and when he was finally rescued, the young man was dehydrated, starved, and exhausted. In the end, the other backpackers were released 3 months later, but Matthew is certainly the one with the best story to tell from the experience.
