5 Legendary Creatures You Didn't Know

You probably know many legendary beings, such as vampires, ogres, demons, druids, elves, and monsters of various kinds. But some mythological creatures from other regions of the planet may be totally unknown.

There are so many bizarre or scary things that it can be a waste not to know them. That's why we've brought you a list of the most impressive creatures in popular culture - and you've probably never heard of it. Turn off the lights, put on some thrilling music and good fun.

1. Czernobog - Slavic Mythology

All mythologies rely on beings who are the misguided side of good. Czernobog It is the pre-Christian Slavic version of the creature we now know as the Devil. His name means "Black God" and he has all power over the dark world, summoning the most terrible demons to annihilate the good.

2. Hel - Nordic Mythology

In Norse mythology, this task is performed by Hel, who stands at the gates of Helheim with her frightening dog Garmr. 3. Jiang-shi - Chinese Mythology

Jiang-shi is a different kind of vampire. He will not try to suck your blood, but he can do one thing even more frightening: suck all of his life energy.

Jiang-shi is an evil being capable of huge leaps. It is created from an affected corpse with black magic, but can easily be distracted with a handful of rice. Seeing a large amount of the food, Jiang-shi stops following his victim and only continues when he finishes counting the grains. Maybe it's a good idea to carry some rice in your pocket if you visit China.

4. Ro-Langs - Tibetan Mythology

Ro-Langs are a Tibetan version of zombies. Their only goal is to turn other people into other Ro-Langs - and they are able to do it with just one tap. While the scary part of brain-eating is on the side, the idea that just the touch of such a monster can end your life can make you shiver.

The creatures would look horrible, have limited movements (they would not be able to bend) and cannot speak. His only form of expression would be tongue movements without any sound.

5. Barbegazi - French / Swiss Folklore

Goblins and gnomes are cute and can spend years in your garden without you suspecting any strange situation, but according to a well-known legend in France and Switzerland, there is a much more interesting kind of goblin than this.

According to Fantasy Encyclopedia, Barbegazi is a type of winter gnome that comes off its mountain only when snow begins to fall. Identifying him is not a problem: besides his white beard, he has gigantic feet that work like snowboards. He uses his huge feet to glide through the snow.

If you were already getting scared of him, don't worry: Barbegazi usually helps people stuck in the snow. When meeting someone with difficulties, he makes signs and whistles for someone to help. If no one is around, he loses the fear of showing his face and appears to dig around the person until he is clear of the snow.
