5 photos that went viral but turned out to be fake

Photoshop was launched in 1990 and in nearly 30 years we have not yet learned to differentiate a well-made montage from a real image - or even understand it, but we try to believe fake anyway. The images below have gone viral at different times and from time to time pop up again on the internet, but they are hardly anything real. Check out:

1. Spiral clouds

Nature can yield stunning images, but finding that kind of pattern is much harder than hitting the lottery. And, let's face it, if it were real we would have seen many other images of the phenomenon with different qualities and not so well photographed.

2. Unusual Friendship

South Africa's Kruger National Park shared this curious image of an elephant taking a lion cub for a walk on its trunk, while the lioness mother walks quietly beside her. Quickly, a lot of people saved the image and started to share it as real, but the park had published it on April 1st!

3. Lemon and Pomegranate Hybrid

Last year came the video of a guy who supposedly had planted lemon and pomegranate seeds and grown a new hybrid fruit species. Many people believed it, but it is a fantasy story: even if hybridity exists, it is made in the laboratory and needs a lot of scientific work to be done successfully.

4. Abandoned Boeing

Another successful image was that of an abandoned Boeing 747 in the middle of a forest. However, the assembly used the true story of an abandoned plane in Bali, Indonesia, without many people knowing how it got there, but there is nothing in the forest surrounding it.

5. Dwarf Giraffe

The picture of a so-called dwarf giraffe has been circulating on the Internet for a long time, leading many to believe that such a condition really exists among the "gyrographic" world. However, this montage was made precisely for a compact animal contest, based on the photo of a real giraffe taken in 2004.
