The movie story of the couple who met because of charity

In 2000, Tyrel Wolf was a 7-year-old boy when he was summoned by his mother for a noble cause: helping their church collect school supplies and toys to send to children in the Philippines. This might just be another charitable act like many in the world, but it turned out to be a curious love story.

Along with the box full of presents, which should arrive by Christmas in the Philippines, each child should choose a picture of themselves to send. Tyrel took one in which he was dressed as a cowboy and sent it to the other side of the world - the boy lived in Midvale, Idaho, USA.

In 2009, Tyrel didn't even remember that act when he received a Facebook friend request from a “random” girl from the Philippines. Since he didn't know her, he preferred to ignore it. The girl, named Joana Marchan, insisted on the request two years later, as early as 2011. Intrigued, Tyrel accepted and decided to see what it was.

He chatted and asked where she met him. It was then that the surprise came: Joana had received the gift sent by Tyrel in 2000 and wanted very much to thank. At the time, she even sent a letter, but the mail got lost in the post office. As Joana was about to start college, she thought it would be nice to find out how the boy who had helped her so many years ago was doing.

Tyrel and Joana began to communicate and discovered numerous affinities, especially in the musical aspect: both are very religious and listen to Christian songs. Over time, they wanted to get to know each other personally until they were able to fulfill that wish in May 2013.

After working with his father and saving money, Tyrel flew from the US to Quezon City, a suburb of Manila, the capital of the Philippines, to spend 10 days with Joana. It was his first trip out of the country and precisely to meet a person who had already crossed his path in an unusual way 13 years earlier.

Love at first sight

Obviously, by this time, they were both in love with each other. But the distance prevented something from being accomplished. When they said goodbye, Tyrel promised to return - and he did so after six months. On this second trip, they began to talk about marriage, but without families knowing each other it would be difficult to be authorized.

So on Tyrel's next trip to the Philippines in May 2014, his father went along to meet the “virtual daughter-in-law”. Both families worshiped and finally released the lovebirds to decide their future. In October of that year, they got married and decided to live in the US as Tyrel got a good job that allowed him to have a more comfortable life in his country and still send some help to his in-laws.
