Russian artist causes controversy by tattooing cat that has no hair

Sphynx cats draw attention for not having body hair. With the animal's skin exposed, a tattoo artist decided to decorate it with designs that are causing controversy in Russia. Aleksandr Purtov released a video tattooing the pussy, which is sedated at the time of art.

According to him, the procedure is not harmful to the cat, although its fur is more sensitive than humans and needs a different work. Purtov agrees, however, that he feels a little sorry for tattooing the kitten, as this is not the animal's decision but his own.

On the back of Demon, the kitten, whose name in Portuguese means "demon", is a large drawing of a woman. In the video, Demon appears receiving a star-shaped chest tattoo. Watch the video:

According to Elizabeth Skorynina, director of a Russian animal protection NGO, the Sphynx have very sensitive skin and so any irritation causes them a lot of pain and discomfort. “If the tattoo artist uses muscle relaxants such as xylazine, the animal's life is in danger. They turn off all motor functions, but the brain operates normally, so the cat feels everything! In addition, any anesthesia is dangerous, especially if used more than once a year, ”warns Elizabeth.

Purtov's video was published on the Russian social network VKontakte, causing a huge negative repercussion in the country. However, according to the tattoo artist, this art was used in the past by farmers on their animals, so he does not agree that the practice is unethical.
