John Lennon killer reveals new details about the death of the singer

On December 8, 1980, while returning to his apartment in front of Central Park, John Lennon was stopped by Mark David Chapman, who claimed to be a fan of the band. Mark then fired five shots, four of which hit John.

More than two decades after the murder that shocked the world, now 61, Mark decided to make new revelations about the case. He said that on the day he had separated a bullet for himself, but that after killing the Beatles singer, he was too cowardly to commit suicide.

He further stated that the crime was motivated simply by the desire to be famous and told how it all happened on the fateful day. Along with other fans, he went to the building where Lennon lived and asked for an artist autograph on the cover of the album "Double Fantasy."

“He signed carefully and asked me if I wanted anything else. His wife was waiting for him in the limo, and that made me wonder how decent he was being with a stranger, ”he said.

Then Lennon went to Yoko Ono and left.

At about 10:50 pm, when Lennon was returning home, Chapman fired four shots at the singer in front of his wife. He remained in place, holding the book "The Catcher in the Rye Field" and waiting for the police to arrive.

“This is the true mind of a sociopath. At the last minute, I said a prayer and said to myself, 'Help me turn this around.' I couldn't, ”he told a parole hearing.

He continued: “Other than that, there was no feeling about his son, his wife, or himself. I was obsessed with something, and maybe by shooting I could be someone. ”

During the hearing, the killer was paroled because of his "attention seeking."
