The London Olympics are about to begin and it is impossible not to forget a few moments in the history of the Olympics that have been marked in memory, whether with examples of overcoming, determination or absolutely thrilling performances. The folks at Mashable gathered several of these moments, and you can check out our selection below:

Kerry strug

The video above shows the American Kerry Strug who, although not the best gymnast on her team, became an example of overcoming by taking part in a race even after twisting her foot, helping her team win the medal. gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Nadia Comăneci

Romanian young woman Nadia Comăneci was the first gymnast to receive a 10-point rating for her perfect performance on asymmetric bars, achieved during the 1976 Montreal Olympics when she was just 14 years old. Nadia is still considered a world sport idol.

Derek Redmond

During the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, British runner Derek Redmond was the big favorite to win the 400-meter race when, shortly after the start, he suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon. However, instead of leaving the track on a stretcher, Redmond limped off the circuit, featuring one of the most iconic scenes of all the Olympic games.

Usain Bolt

Jamaican athlete Usain Bolt is probably the greatest sprinter of all time, holding a collection of medals and world records. The video above shows some of the best moments of your amazing career.
