Asteroid to pass 32,000 km from Earth in February

Asteroid 2012 DA14 will pass through Earth on February 15th. But that's not all: measuring about 40 meters long and with a mass of 130 thousand tons, this celestial body will pass at a speed of 6.3 km / s across our planet, missing the target by "only" 32 thousand kilometers of distance.

If this space “rock” were to fall to Earth, it would cause a 2.5 megaton explosion, but fortunately it will not happen (so it is more useful to guard against other end-of-the-world possibilities). will make another kind of attraction possible for those who live watching the sky.

The fact is, passing so close to Earth, the 2012 DA14 can be a great opportunity for astronomers to study this type of object. Unfortunately, Brazilians interested in observing the event will have to travel to Europe, Asia, Africa or Australia, as the asteroid cannot be observed from our country.
