BBC Releases Stunning Video of 'Dirty Storm'

The striking video above was released by the BBC and shows images that were captured in Patagonia while shooting the documentary "BBC Patagonia: Earth's Secret Paradise". It shows the striking moment when clouds made of volcanic ash are struck by lightning.

The phenomenon is still little studied in the world, since it does not occur so often. The images are breathtaking and quickly became viral on the internet. In less than three days, more than 33 million views were counted on BBC Earth's official Facebook.

Called "dirty storms", they occur when, in addition to the lava eruption, lightning is seen in the volcano's crater. Because they are difficult to predict, they are much appreciated by researchers.

What's up? Did you like the pictures? Would they dare to be around recording these scenes?
