British pilot artificial arm loose at full landing

LONDON (AFP) - A British airline Flybe pilot briefly lost control of the plane when his artificial arm came off at full landing, according to an official report released on Thursday that left no casualties.

The flight carried 47 people and covered the domestic route between Birmingham and Belfast on February 12. When he arrived at the Irish airport when he was landing, the pilot's arm came free and he had to maneuver with the other, according to the document that investigates air accidents.

He caused the aircraft to bounce when it touched the ground, but no one was injured and the plane completed the landing without problems. The company celebrated not discriminating against its employees. Ian Baston, the company's director of flight operations and safety, said “the veteran captain named in the document is one of Flybe's most experienced and reliable pilots”.

"The airline confirms that at no time was the safety of passengers and crew compromised and that the aircraft was not damaged, " he added. The 46-year-old captain pledged to be more careful in ensuring that his artificial arm is well fixed and explaining to the co-pilots what to do if something similar happens again.
