Star Trek and goat's brain beers are talking

(Relaxnews) - This has been an interesting week in the beer world, with the launch of a Star Trek-themed Klingon beer and another one made of smoked brains. That's right, you read that right, smoked and baked brains.

Here are the precedents for contextualizing. Apparently, brewers at Dock Street Brewing Co. in Philadelphia are obsessed with The Walking Dead, a post-apocalyptic horror drama filled with flesh-eating zombies.

And what better way to celebrate the season's end of the season than to brew a beer in your honor? Dock Street Walker is described as a pale American drink made from wheat, oats, flaked barley, organic cranberries and smoked goat's brain, which supposedly gives beer "subtle, intriguing smoke notes."

Cranberries have been added to give the beer a "sinister bloody tone." The beer was released to coincide with the end of the current season of the series, on March 30.

Star Trek fans are also commenting on the new Klingon themed beer being brewed by Tin Man Brewing in Indiana, USA. According to StarTrek.com, Klingon Warnog's aroma is dominated by mild bananas, cloves and sweet malt to create a “rich and unique flavor”.

StarTrek beer will hit Canadian and American shelves later this year.
