A work being done in Fushun City, Liaoning Province, China, is drawing attention for its unconventional format. The 157-meter-tall building is circular in shape and looks more like a ring or a kind of portal than anything else.

It took about 3, 000 tons of steel to build, and on the outside, the decoration includes 12, 000 LED lamps. Now, the strangest thing: According to Fushun municipal government officials, the structure under construction has no purpose except to serve as a high vantage point.

Like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the idea is that the work will become a tourist site equipped with four lifts to take visitors to the top. The project was named “Ring of Life” and symbolizes “a path leading to heaven in heaven”.
