Italian city opens free wine fountain

Italy is unbeatable when it comes to drinking and eating well. And to reaffirm its unquestionable fame in this regard, it was inaugurated in a vineyard in the Abruzzo zone, in the central region of the country, a fountain that spurts uninterrupted wine. The best part is that to sip the drink, you don't have to take a penny from your wallet.

Situated in the Dora Sarchese winery in the town of Caldari di Ortona, it is not the first source of its kind in Italy; But unlike the others, this is the pioneer in offering wine 24 hours a day, without charging anything for it. The reason for such generosity is to enjoy the flow of pilgrims who cross the locality along the path of St. Thomas Aquinas.

The facility is barrel-shaped and about 3 meters in diameter. To help themselves to the drink, visitors must enter the building and turn on a tap.

The inspiration came from a similar source on the road to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. As for the drinkers and troublemakers, the organizers of the Italian version are categorical: they are not welcome at all. The structure was created so that the wine is appreciated in moderation.
