Scientists create higher quality synthetic gold than natural gold

Most of the gold in the universe was born from neutron star collisions; Since then, we have found that gold draws attention not only for its beauty, but also for its useful and incredible properties. This is because it is metal - indeed, a noble metal, that is, it is resistant to corrosion and oxidation - more malleable than there is, and is extremely reflective to infrared, red and yellow lights, while absorbing blue light.

However, despite its resistance, it is endangered when exposed to chemicals such as mercury and aqua regia, a mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid. That's why a team of chemists and engineers from the Center for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS) - the Indian Government's Department of Science and Technology (STD) autonomous research institute - based in Bangalore, created a new type of gold. which is better than the natural version.

In addition to being resistant, the newly created synthetic gold crystals remained stable even after mercury and copper exposure tests and, as reported in the Angewandte Chemie (German scientific journal) article, synthetic gold did not resist hyperconcentrated royal water only. . That is, this gold, created in a laboratory, is incredibly more resistant to chemical change than conventional.

“Laboratory gold” was developed through the chemical transport reaction in chlorine gas and offers purity greater than 99.99%, according to the researchers. In short, humans have been able to “overcome” the geological forces of our entire planet and create a nobler unconventional gold than ever before.
