Bad luck: couple sells everything, buys boat and sinks two days later

Are you one of those who have dreamed of selling everything you had to go around the world without much destiny? This is something that a lot of people crave, but one has to be prepared for the dream trip to become a nightmare. This is what happened to the young couple Tanner Broadwell and Nikki Walsh, who sank two days after they sailed around the world in a newly purchased boat.

And look, you can't blame the lack of planning, as Tanner and Nikki spent another two years programming the journey of their lives. When the time was right, they both quit their jobs, sold all their possessions, pooled all their savings, and bought a 49-year-old sailboat.

Since none of them had experience with navigation, Tanner's father decided to give a little help. He traveled with his son and daughter-in-law along the Gulf Coast from Alabama to Panama City. The boat became the home of the lovebirds, who gathered their remaining belongings in the vehicle as they prepared for the epic.

Before and after

After everything was done, they returned with their father to Tanner Springs, Florida, and waited for the right time to travel. Last Tuesday (6), both launched themselves alone and headed for the Anclote Key National Park, also in Florida. The first day was perfect, but the next day things went very wrong ...

The couple had not even left the Florida coast when at 8:45 pm near Clearwater Beach, the sailboat hit something under the sea that they couldn't see. The water started pouring in quickly, Tanner and Nikki called the Coast Guard and they didn't have much time to save anything - they were rescued with $ 90 in their pockets, body clothes and doggy lap.

Now, to make matters worse, they still have to remove the wreck, in an operation that could cost up to $ 10, 000 - obviously they had not taken any travel insurance. Still, despite the misfortune, both are happy to at least be alive. According to captain Kenny Keen, it is most likely that the couple hit a sandbar near the shore, which accumulated in that region of the sea due to storms.
