90kg dog needs to be rescued in the mountains

Grandeur Peak is considered one of the most suitable amateur mountains in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Probably for this reason was chosen as the fate of mastiff Floyd and its owner on October 13, 2019.

However, something went wrong on the way. The paws of the 3-year-old mastiff were injured from walking and the animal simply refused to continue walking. Fortunately, another group noticed what was happening and warned local authorities that Floyd and his owner were stuck on the trail.

A volunteer group of first responders came to the rescue of the animal before the weather turned too cold and harmed its health and its owner. Due to Floyd's size, the rescue procedures were very similar to those used for humans.

Mastiff is not a breed suitable for long walks

The mastiff, also known as the English mastiff, is a descendant of an ancient fighting dog. The genetic heritage of the furious animal that fought with lions 5, 000 years ago, however, is only in size. Unlike its ancestor, the current mastiff is a very docile and less active animal.

Although he needs to exercise daily, they are not considered exactly active dogs like Siberian huskies or border collies. Despite their size, mastiffs can even do very well in small yard environments.
