Check out 9 bizarre objects found in New York rivers

You know New York, if not personally, for the fame the state and its eponymous city carry. What you may not know is that the waters of New York hide many bizarre stories. The Hudson and East Rivers have a dark history when it comes to objects already found deep within.

Live Science has published a list of some of the items already taken from these rivers and, amazingly, among them are ice cream trucks and even a dead giraffe. Check out the history of each of these “findings”:

1 - The dead giraffe

Let's face it: among all the items in the world you would expect to find in a river, the body of a dead giraffe must occupy the last places - or you need to share with us what a river that is. The fact is that this improbability left the realm of impossible things and became true when a dead giraffe was found in New York Bay.

According to New York Magazine, the animal ended up there after fleeing a circus ship, probably in the mid-1980s.

2 - Old Dining Table

An old metal table was found on the East River, as if standing, ready to serve dinner. "It makes me want to come down with cups of tea and set the table, " Diver Lenny Speregen, who found the furniture, told New York Magazine.

3 - Ice Cream Trucks

In 1969 the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation discarded ice cream truck scraps on a barge near Atlantic Beach. Tires, concrete slabs and other garbage were also deposited there. The idea was to create a kind of artificial reef. Today the region is ideal for catching lobsters.

4 - Silver Bars

In 1903 a boat carrying 7, 678 silver bars sank in a region near New Jersey. The damage was large, but about 6, 000 bars were recovered. The problem is that the rest is still underwater somewhere, and would be worth the equivalent of $ 26 million today. A lot of people have tried to recover the bars, but no one has found them yet.

5 - The hand of a robot

Here's another rather unusual object, isn't it? And yet, in a search for the waters of New York, the hand of a robot has already been found.

6 - Dead People

Rivers are places commonly chosen by those who kill or kill someone and want to get rid of the body. In the US case, due to the weather, when a body is thrown into the sea in winter, it tends to stay there until spring, when it decomposes faster. This phenomenon builds up gas in bodies and causes them to emerge, rotten and fetid.

7 - Bizarre Creatures

Although the waters of New York's rivers are not exactly healthy and clean, there are living creatures who like this hostile environment full of bizarre surprises. Just to give you an idea, a 1.2 meter worm has already been found in the river, devouring wood scraps. In addition, there are crustaceans that look like small armadillos and feed on cement.

8 - Wrecks on top of Wrecks

The Hudson River is known to hold a past full of many wrecks, and even today traces of these accidents are still found. A bizarre situation involved finding a modern speedboat on top of the remains of a ship that had probably sunk in the nineteenth century.

9 - The bizarre toy

One of the objects that has puzzled divers and researchers is a toy that is not yet known if it is a kangaroo or a mouse. The pet is without an ear and appears to have a little heart lantern.
