Check out the pre-show rituals of 7 big names in international music

Almost every person in the world seeks to do a good job in the most varied professions. For singers and bands, this is no different. They also aim to make the best of their audience, and anything that can help them succeed in their shows is welcome.

In this sense, many of these performers perform pre-show rituals as part of their routine in the moments leading up to the stage. No matter what city or venue they are playing in, either out of sheer superstition or just to keep the habit, they always try to do a few things to make a great presentation.

Based on a list published by the Mental Floss website, check out the rituals of 7 renowned international music artists:

1. Rolling Stones: "Shepherd's Pie"

Keith Richards

Mick Jagger's band has some bizarre demands, but one of them, aimed exclusively at guitarist Keith Richards, surpasses all in this regard. The musician always demands the so-called “shepherd's pie”, English recipe of salted dish with meat and cream potatoes. And he likes the whole pie, so he can be the first to break the top layer. On one occasion Richards delayed a show so a new dish was prepared after he discovered that a member of the security team had eaten his pie.

2. Foo Fighters: Jägermeister Shots and Michael Jackson Sounds

Dave Grohl

Foo Fighters musicians dance and sing the hits from the King of Pop album “Off The Wall” while sipping German Jägermeister. According to lead singer Dave Grohl, this amounts to a positive shout or a prayer before going on stage. He says the drink is an inspiration from band leader Van Halen. “It's Dave Lee Roth's refreshment. If you want to go up there and be like him, you need at least four shots of Jäger, ”he explained.

3. Rihanna: Battle Cry

Pop singer Rihanna has some requirements like stuffed cookies and also usually drinks vodka with fruit juice before the performances. However, the artist has another habit: to gather all the support staff, the dancers and the musicians to join hands in the center and raise them with a battle cry, in the "one for all" style. According to guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, the team does not do this as a ritual, but as a way to see and feel their teammates.

4. Led Zeppelin: Hot Tea and Ironing

Led Plant lead singer Robert Plant believes the ritual of drinking hot tea and ironing his own clothes helps him get into the mood of the show. And the band seems to have matured in that sense, compared to reports of alcohol and drug use and window dressing rooms TVs in the 1970s. According to a statement by concert promoter Harvey Goldsmith to The Telegraph, In 2007, Led Zeppelin artists once ordered coffees and teas and consumed very little of the wine and beer they had left for them in the dressing room.

5. John Legend: Roast Chicken

Singer John Legend usually eats roast chicken before taking the stage. In addition, he does not consume any alcohol and drinks a lot of water before the performances, in order to preserve his voice. The priority is part of the professionalism of the singer, who seeks to take care and maintain quality during the tours, when he comes to do five shows of two hours per week.

6. Beyonce: Prayers and Massage Chair

An hour before the performance begins, Beyonce uses a massage chair while she is putting on makeup and getting her hair done. The singer also does a prayer and stretching with the whole band. These revelations were made by the artist herself in an interview in 2013.

Chris Martin

As a ritual, Coldplay Britons make a quiet moment, just listening to the fans and, after a few minutes, come together for a group hug. Who told this was vocalist Chris Martin, who also revealed that he had 18 of his own.
