Check out which were the 10 most read books by Brazilians

Are you the type who loves to "devour" books or the gang who prefer movies and television? Well, according to the people at Orelha de Livro - a social network aimed at lovers of literature - a survey conducted by the site in 2011 about the reading habits of Brazilians pointed to a drop in the number of readers in the country. That is, the gang that does not like to read much is winning this fight.

According to the research, one of the factors that may have influenced this number, besides the lack of incentive for reading, is the distance between reading learned at school and reading preferred by the population. The study also revealed which were the 10 titles most read by Brazilians until the first half of this year, making it clear that readers give preference to foreign authors, especially those who speak English. Check out:

  • 1 ° The Girl Who Stole Books (Markus Zusak): released in 2006;
  • 2 ° - The Hut (William P. Young): released in 2007;
  • 3 ° - It is the fault of the stars (John Green): released in 2012;
  • 4 ° The Little Prince (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry), 1943;
  • 5th - Dear John (Nicholas Sparks): released in 2007;
  • 6th - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (JK Rowling): released in 1997;
  • 7th - Dawn (Stephenie Meyer): released in 2006;
  • 8th - The Last Song (Nicholas Sparks): released in 2009;
  • 9th - The Kite Hunter (Khaled Hossini): launched in 2003;
  • 10th - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (JK Rowling): released in 1998.
