Learn the story of the man who doesn't use money to live

Don't you get tired of the way things are and feel like disappearing? No matter what your motives are, this desire to drop everything is quite common, and that's about where the story of Mark Boyle, an Irish graduate in business administration, begins.

What made Boyle drop everything was his dissatisfaction with the contemporary obsession with money, the accumulation of goods, and the display of status. All of this, of course, is grounded in a society that is not nearly as sustainable as it should be.

Putting the money aside four years ago, Boyle began to live in the countryside, with resources that he himself provides: from eating - only eating what he sows - to the most basic tasks such as bathing, which he only does. in waterfalls; and oral hygiene, which he maintains with artifacts made from animal bones.

In a talk on the TEDx program, Boyle explains that the problem is not just money, but what the obsession with money and, consequently, for acquiring more and more goods, causes the environment, which has its resources exploited, not reimbursed and on top of that, polluted.

"If we all had to be responsible for the water we drink, I think most of us wouldn't pee and poop in that water, " he said, explaining that people should be connected to what they consume. This connection would prevent waste of materials and improper exploitation of the environment. Boyle states that if we had to make our own furniture, we would not switch furniture so often.

He also brilliantly explains that one of the facets of money is the pursuit of independence, which for him is a myth. The nature and the societies that inhabit it, for him, are and always will be interdependent, that is, they depend on each other for survival. Had you ever stopped to think about it?

And why is independence an illusion? According to Boyle, because we depend on food and water for a living. It is impossible to say independently if you need these two basic things.

The activist's philosophy has sparked interest in various parts of the world because of a webpage he maintains on the Internet, where he spreads his idea and invites more people to think like him. The computer you use runs on solar energy.

Recently, Boyle wrote a book, which should arrive in Brazil with the title "The Man Without Money", where he tells his story. Money from the sale of books will go to a community to house people with the same ideals as it. So what do you think of this man's opinions?
