The case took place in May of this year and had major repercussions in the US shortly after a mother accidentally hit her own daughter while picking up the girl from a California high school. It all started when the woman was parking and crashed into the car ahead. Immediately, she put the gear in reverse and eventually stepped over her daughter behind the vehicle.

The mother tried to get the car off the girl, but that would make the situation worse. Luckily, a group of students who coached football were nearby. The boys ran toward the car and made their way until they reached the vehicle. Together, they managed to lift the car so that the girl could be removed and taken to a hospital.

Another recent case: In January this year a student at the University of Michigan was kidnapped by Eric Ramsey, a man who was on probation after spending five years in jail. She failed to escape and was sexually assaulted by him. Fragile after the act of violence, the girl was forced to get in a car and drive aimlessly with the criminal.

Along the way, he said he was going to kill her, and in utter despair she simply jumped out of the moving car. The fall caused the woman to break one of her arms, but fortunately her legs were good and she kept running until she reached the first house she saw.

In this residence were three children alone, the oldest being only 11 and 14 years old. Their father had just gone to fetch his bride from work, and had even warned his children of the old "never open the door to strangers" recommendation.

Even so, James Persyn, the 14-year-old eldest son, decided to let her in, after all she was visibly hurt and terrified. As soon as she entered, the woman explained the situation and asked everyone to hide because she was running away from a man who wanted to kill her.

She and the three children locked all the entrances of the house and went to the bathroom to hide. The criminal, meanwhile, was after the woman and managed to find the residence in which she had hidden. After trying unsuccessfully to open the door, Ramsey gave up and decided to throw gas at the residence and set it on fire.

Still, the four did not leave the site. They called the police and fortunately the service was quick. Ramsey tried to escape but was shot dead in a confrontation. James and Acelin Persyn, the two older children who helped the woman, received honorary titles from the local police.

Gaylynn Miles was a mentally ill woman, mother of three, who had separated from her husband. One day in 2011 she went to pick up the children from school and told them that the family would make a trip to New Mexico.

On the way, she took and gave her children several pills, telling them that the pills would help them feel less cold. The four of them collapsed into the vehicle, and Gaylynn's foot was long on the accelerator pedal, causing the engines to overheat and, consequently, to explode.

The fire, which had everything to kill all four even before the pills, ended up producing a lot of smoke and waking up the eldest son, Timmy, just 13 years old. He took his two younger brothers out of the vehicle but was unable to remove his mother, who was probably already dead. The three only got help the next day and were taken to hospital to treat their injuries. Although heroic, Timmy's action was very traumatic and everyone who knows his story is hoping the boy can overcome this sadness.

It all started when a five-year-old girl, Riley Brandon, was swimming with a friend in a pool in Destin, Florida - Riley, though very young, had been swimming for three years. Suddenly she saw a one-and-a-half-year-old baby fall into the water without any adult noticing.

The girl didn't think twice and dove for the baby, managing to get him out of the water before it was too late. Riley's parents have also saved many people from drowning, so for her the attitude was considered the right thing to do. Be warned of vacation and summer: it never hurts to pay attention and avoid drowning, huh!
