Meet Darius, the little mouse who learned to paint colorful pictures

Everyone has a talent, a natural gift, some for logical and exact areas, some for human areas, and others are simply born for art. This is normal and natural, now, no one could imagine that a mouse would have the gift of turning ink into works of art, right? If you never thought about it, Darius Mouse was born to make you believe that a mouse can even be an artist. Unfortunately, he can no longer produce canvases, but his works are still successful among people around the world.

Animation and digital arts student and tutor Darius Amalie Markota Andersen told Bored Panda that he trained his rat friend to paint with his feet, and in about 10 minutes, he completed a "canvas." “I was at a strange time in my life, where I was trying to figure out who I was as a person and where I should go in life. He was my light in the dark, ”he recalled.

The student also said that always had rats. At the age of 14, she found out how great they could be as pets on the Internet and has since dropped them no more. “Mice were starting to become popular as pets, I think. After I had my first mouse, I kept catching them. The mice don't live long, usually two to three years, so I've had nine so far. Darius was one of them, ”he said.

Amalie also recalled that she adopted Darius in 2017 and that her mouse was “too precious not to be chosen. He seemed so kind that I instantly fell in love. ” She taught him how to paint with a non-toxic watercolor set. Amalie dipped Darius' feet in the paint and let the mouse pace back and forth, building her art.

On Saturday (28), Darius's photos resurfaced on Twitter after being shared by an account, but his creative process had already been properly documented by her on Tumblr. The first Darius mouse painting was done in January 2018. “Darius going viral was very exciting, I was so glad people liked him. He deserved it, ”he said.

The student also said that Darius was a "strange rat". Unlike the others, he was very shy and did not like to explore environments as rats usually do. “He lay on my lap or sleeping in my bed, was not very independent and always clung to me like a baby. He was attached to me and me to him, which made it hard to let him go when the time came, ”he said.

She remembered that Darius had no interest in other people or new places which, to her, was strange in a rat, as they are usually true explorers - of humans and territories.

With the fame it earned on the internet, the mouse Darius went on to sell his works through his manager, Andersen, of course. The money was used to buy him a belt, so the rat could travel with his friend and tutor.

Today, she admits that she regrets a bit of selling the original works, a reminder of her rat friend, but at the same time, is happy to see Darius's work spread. "I hope they are still intact and well, " he said. “It was crazy to see it all explode like that. I never expected it to make people so happy. But I'm glad you did. Unfortunately, Darius did not do more than four paintings while he was still alive, ”he said.

But for anyone who is a fan of Darius's work, good news: Andersen has two other mice: Gucci and Mango, and if they have the same talent as the "artist rat", the works may be available soon because she already said that You want to teach them how to paint.
