Last Sunday (10), British singer David Bowie died at the age of 69 from cancer he had been battling for 18 months. The official announcement of his death was given through his official Facebook page, a message that moved fans and sparked a series of reactions on the Internet.

Career

Davie Bowie was born on January 8, 1947 in London, in the neighborhood called Brixton, where he started playing the saxophone when he was 13 years old. The singer became famous in 1972 with the release of the acclaimed album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

The British singer's influence on music is remarkable. As biographer David Buckley notes, Bowie "has penetrated and changed more lives than any other comparable figure." Successful songs include "Let's Dance", "Space Oddity", "Heroes", "Under Pressure", "Rebel Rebel", "Life on Mars" and "Suffragette City".
