From refugee to hero: Malinese turns Spider-Man to save child

A terrifying scene caught the eye on Saturday morning in Paris: a boy was hanging on the balcony of his 4th floor apartment. The firemen were called in, the neighbor was trying to reach the child, but there was not much time to lose before a tragedy struck.

Malian refugee Momoudou Gassama, 22, who in a shelter in the French capital, was passing in front of the scene when he saw the shouts and horns. Gassama did not think twice and began to climb the building. Within seconds, he managed to climb the four floors that separated the floor from the hanging boy.

According to Gassama, he did not think straight because he loves children and knew at the time that the situation was emergency. Published on social networks, the rescue video went viral in France and later in the world. There were 4 million views in less than 24 hours! Check out:

The act of heroism was acknowledged on the morning of Monday (28): Gassama was received by French President Emmanuel Macron, who offered him a position at the Paris Fire Department. Gassama, who arrived in the city in September, will also have his documents regularized to obtain French citizenship.

The case of the child is also being investigated. The father was alone with his son at home when he decided to buy - "just for a few minutes". In the meantime, the boy locked himself on the balcony, apparently unintentionally. As a precaution, the boy's custody was removed from his parents until the situation is fully clarified.
