Find out how much some foods and drinks are deadly

We are familiar with the idea that some elements, such as mercury, are highly toxic and can kill us. What doesn't often cross our mind is that some extremely common items in our daily lives, if consumed in high doses, can end our lives as well.

The Asap Science channel has made two videos on this topic, relating the amount of food, drinks and other products that can kill a person, and if you also have this kind of morbid curiosity, check out the following:

  • 70 cups of coffee have enough caffeine to kill a person weighing 70 pounds of heart failure, you know that?
  • In the case of distilled spirits, the thing is really dangerous: 13 shots is enough for a person to go for this for the better. This is because alcohol is a depressant of our nervous system, and high doses of it can simply shut down some areas of the brain that are responsible for functions such as breathing and keeping the heart beating;
  • Even excess water can kill. In that case, it takes six liters of water, which is bad for brain cells, causing migraines, seizures and even coma.

  • If you're diving, it's best not to keep your head underwater too long - it takes just four minutes without breathing for your brain to be already damaged, and within six minutes you are likely to die. Of course, some people can break records and stay under water longer, but you better not try to do the same as them;
  • Do you know what else can kill you? Cherry Seeds! It is not a big problem to swallow a seed from time to time, but if you bite one of them, you will be exposed to a bizarre amount of cyanide, which, in large doses, causes a person to be unable to absorb oxygen. Keyed up!
  • Do you think chocolate is harmless? It can be, unless you decide to consume 85 bars at once - in this case, the amount of theobromine can be deadly;

  • Speaking of drugs, even though it's not part of many people's daily lives, marijuana, for example, only puts someone's life at risk if he or she succeeds in smoking 10 pounds of weed. Still, an overdose would only be possible with the consumption of 680 kg within 15 minutes;
  • Those who enjoy listening to loud music should pay attention to the decibels of the noise: sounds above 185 decibels can cause their lungs to explode or to embolize;
  • Loud sounds also keep us from sleeping, and if you've ever wondered how long a person can go without sleep, the answer is: 11 days - after that, it's death for sure;
  • If you like to spice up your meals, be careful not to overdo it: 129 spoons of ground pepper is the deadly dose of this kind of spice;
  • Nutmeg, on the other hand, can cause seizures, palpitations, and even death if someone consumes more than two teaspoons of this spice;

  • Sugar dying is also possible: it takes 10.5 glasses ingested at one time for a 68 kg person to hit their boots;
  • Ingesting 24 tubes of toothpaste is also a bizarre way to die;
  • In the case of Botox, 68 nanograms of the product can already cause the death of a person, thanks to botulinum toxin, which paralyzes the muscles;
  • Did you know it is possible to have an overdose of vitamin C? This, of course, if you can do the great thing of consuming 11, 000 oranges at one time!
  • To die from x-ray examinations, a person must undergo 7, 143 abdominal examinations;
  • If a person can eat 480 bananas, they can die from potassium poisoning. Possibly her stomach would explode before she could eat it all.
