An unusual situation resulted in the dismissal of a senior employee of an unknown company, described only as a "large infrastructure company." The splurge, called simply "Bob, " was outsourcing his own developer work to a Chinese company and paying her a sixth of his high salary, tens of thousands of dollars a year.

The case was cited in a study by Verizon, which provides telecommunications services in the United States. According to the documents, he was praised by his superiors and always achieved high marks in internal evaluations, being considered one of the best developers of the company in which he worked.

During his work hours, he would relax, visit Reddit, and watch cat videos on YouTube. Constant visits and posts on Facebook were also part of their daily routine. And at the end of each day, Bob was still an exemplary employee to his superiors, sending daily production reports.

Scam Discovery

The mistake came to light when Verizon was called by the unidentified company to verify a possible intrusion into their systems. The company's IT professionals were investigating internal network access from Shenyang City, China, which used Bob's login information.

Not surprisingly, the telecommunications company discovered hundreds of invoices on the employee's computer, proving that he was paying someone to do his job. Bob was fired for cause and his whereabouts are unknown.
