Sleep can help solve big problems

Maybe someone has already told you that sleeping makes your head “cool, ” making problems easier to solve. It turns out that this was confirmed by serious research by Lancaster University scholars and published in the journal Memory and Cognition.

According to the study, sleep gives you a fresh view of a troubled situation. This way, big decisions can be made much easier. However, this “restorative nap” works only with difficult questions - that is, it is no use sleeping to try to solve very simple things.

And how was the research?

To prove this theory, the researchers selected some groups of people and passed questions of different difficulty levels to them. As might be expected, the most complicated problems were not resolved quickly.

In this way, one group slept before responding to complex problems while the other continued to work on them or just rest for a moment. People who actually slept were able to solve the difficult issues much more easily than others.

However, this improvement has only been found in more complicated decisions - which is logical, after all, you don't need time to resolve non-problematic situations.
