A wood panel, nails and thread. This is the material used by Kumi Yamashita to create the incredible portraits of the Constellation project, which you can check out in more detail in the gallery below.

According to the Japanese artist, to develop the images she employs a soft painted panel, thousands of small galvanized nails, and a single common black thread, with no seams or knots. The technique is completely out of the ordinary, using common elements to create extremely intricate and beautiful portraits.
