German team creates for SpaceX Hyperloop capsule that reaches 457 km / h

We can say that the future is getting closer with respect to the means of transport that will drive humans on their daily commutes: a new record was broken at SpaceX's third annual competition to develop capsules for Hyperloop - a new Passenger style of movement through a tube at very high speed.

This is what competition is all about: things that could radically transform cities and the way people move around

Once again, the German team WARR Hyperloop from the Technical University of Munich took the spotlight, winning the competition and breaking their own capsule speed record - the pod developed by the team reached an incredible speed of 457 km / h. In last year's edition, WARR Hyperloop had reached 300 km / h, and the team was attended by a Brazilian, Mariana Avezum, which our TecMundo colleagues had the pleasure of interviewing in 2017.

Transport of the future

In the 2018 competition, teams were to create a capsule that was carried by a 1.2-kilometer tube built by Elon Musk's company. In the next few years, the visionary intends to put this into practice in the development of a revolutionary new transport system. The capsule made by the competitors should reach the highest possible speed with its own propulsion.

WARR Hyperloop Collects Successes and Wins in Developing a High Speed Passenger Prototype

The WARR Hyerloop team faced two other teams in the final, one Dutch and one Swiss, but emerged victorious for the third time in a row - remembering that this is the third edition of the competition. The 457 km / h hit by the WARR Hyperloop capsule under the scorching California sun was announced by the official Twitter of the competition.

The success of the team - and the competition as a whole - brings Elon Musk's dream closer to being realized: “This is really the first opportunity to create a new mode of transportation, ” he said. “This is what competition is all about: things that could radically transform cities and the way people move around.”

Winning it all!

SpaceX is not currently directly involved with any of the companies that are really trying to bring Hyperloop to life, but Musk has not given up his old dream yet.

WARR Hyperloop, in turn, collects successes and victories in developing a high-speed passenger transport prototype. In January and August 2017, the team took home the first place trophy in previous editions of the SpaceX competition, proving to be ideal for the creation of a capsule such as Musk wanted.

The team was not content and built a second capsule to focus on the transport fluctuation system, unlike the first, which aimed to achieve the maximum speed possible. This earned WARR Hyperloop one of three innovation awards also given by the Musk competition.

Just missing

SpaceX is not currently directly involved with any of the companies that are really trying to bring Hyperloop to real life, but Musk has not given up on his old dream yet: a 30-minute high-speed, tube-like trip of Los Angeles to San Francisco in the United States. At the moment, three companies, all based in California, are focused on building this transportation system, but it is not yet expected that all of this will finally get off the ground.
