This giant spider found in Australia will haunt your dreams

Did you get a good look at the “scabbard” in the image above? It's a copy - huge! - from the Sparassidae family, native to temperate and tropical regions of the world, including Australia, Asia, Africa, some areas of the Mediterranean and ... the Americas. In the case of the animal in the picture, it was discovered on Australian soil and is probably one of the largest spiders of its kind ever found there.

The pet was actually rescued about a year ago by staff at the Barnyard Betty's Rescue Animal Sanctuary in Queensland, but for some reason the images only went viral this week. According to the information on the sanctuary post, the spider was named Charlotte and had a docile and calm temperament.

The docile and modest Charlotte

As they explained, (little) Charlotte showed no aggression when rescued and, like most spiders, just wanted to spend a quiet life eating insects. Unfortunately - or fortunately! - Since she was released shortly after she was taken to the shrine, there is no recent information on her current whereabouts.

However, if you are afraid that one day you will cross your path with a Charlotte of life, don't worry! According to Fiona MacDonald of the Science Alert portal, despite their sheer size - some even grow to six inches long - they are not interested in humans and are devoted to feeding on insects such as crickets and cockroaches.
