This photographer recorded motherhood as honestly as possible.

Anna Ogier-Bloomer is a young photographer who has always enjoyed taking pictures of her own family, especially her mother, who is on many of her records made over the past 15 years.

The photographer had a daughter in 2013 and decided to portray, in an absolutely honest manner, every moment of motherhood: the pain she felt at night without being able to sleep properly. Of course, the images also show the joys of being a mother, but they are definitely not limited to that.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Ogier-Bloomer said the first two years of motherhood were a big shock, after all she had unconditionally loved someone else and experienced changes she had not imagined she would live.

“A wise friend, and lactation consultant, told me that when it comes to babies, the only constancy is change. She was absolutely right, ”said the photographer, who added that her daughter is constantly changing and becoming someone else overnight, with new needs, new interests and new trends.

Violet, Ogier-Bloomer's daughter, slept poorly for the first two years and needed to stay on her lap for a long time. This period, according to the photographer, left her and her husband in a “survival mode, ” and she couldn't focus on her work as a photographer - Ogier-Bloomer returned to work as an arts teacher when Violet was three months old. livelihood.

“Being a mother is absolutely the hardest thing I've ever done, ” she said, who had not expected so many physical changes in the first two years. It was with this difficulty in mind that the “Letdown” project was born, with the intention of recording the changes that her body experienced with breastfeeding and motherhood in general.

She says that breastfeeding was one of the great joys of her life, but it was very difficult too: “I wanted to investigate the complexity of doing the hardest, but still the most significant work I have ever done. The physical act of motherhood begins at conception and continues to evolve throughout the child's life. ”

The photos were taken with the help of her husband, sister and the camera's self-timer. The idea was to focus on the issue of breastfeeding, the pains she felt and the marks she gained from her daughter's scratches.

With these images, she expects women facing the difficulties of motherhood to feel less alone. Likewise, the photographer wants to talk about breastfeeding without taboos and to show that children sometimes want to breastfeed even when their mothers are using the toilet, for example, and that there is no way to prevent this from happening.

Ogier-Bloomer says he now understands his own mother and knows the pain she has had when she had her children. The photographer finally says she understands her mother's desire to always do her best to try to protect them from all kinds of suffering. “My daughter is part of me. And I hope people see their own mothers, or all mothers, in a new way, ”he concluded. So, what did you think of these photos?
