This photo will help you better see the vastness of the Great Pyramid of Giza

All those who haven't had a chance to see the Great Giza Pyramid - me included, even though it's at the top of my list of places I need to visit one day! - You know this is a majestic and immense monument. By the way, just do a brief search of the "Oracle" ( I'm talking about Google, obviously ) to find impressive data on this structure.

To spare you the trouble of searching, the Great Pyramid of Giza was built some 4, 500 years ago, during the Old Empire, to serve as a tomb for Pharaoh Cheops, and today it is not only the oldest of the Giza. Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, as in the one that remains relatively intact even after so long of existence. Not to mention that it held the title of tallest man-made structure for 3, 800 years until the construction of Lincoln Cathedral in England in the early 14th century.

Gigantic

Scholars estimate that the Great Pyramid was built over a period of 10 to 20 years - which is a real wonder considering that it is made up of approximately 2.3 million limestone blocks, each weighing, on average between 2.5 and 15 tonnes. By the way, although countless theories about how the gigantic royal tomb was built have been presented over the centuries, to this day this is a hotly debated issue among experts.

The fact is that we need to take our hats off to the engineers and architects of the past, because the Great Pyramid of Giza - which is actually part of the complex that contains the Great Sphinx and two huge pyramids, the one of Chefren and the Miquerinos - is aligned with the four cardinal points and each side measures an impressive 230.4 meters.

Each face of the pyramid has an angle of 51 ° 52 'and originally they were 147 meters high. This measure is now 138 m, and the “shrinkage” is due in part to the fact that the Great Pyramid was completely covered with a layer of white, smooth limestone.

Just think how this monument should not be absolutely extraordinary after its construction was completed! Yet even today, after thousands of years of existence and exposure to the weather, the royal tomb continues to stand firm and strong - and impress humanity.
