This woman remembers every day of her life since she was a baby

When it comes to memory, we think of one of the most curious stories we have ever published on the subject here at Mega, which is an amazing woman named Sabrina Bittencourt, who once lost her memory during a family lunch.

If Sabrina's story makes our jaw drop in the face of the complexity of the human brain and its many facets, the same astonishment is that of the Australian Rebecca Sharrock, who has a rare condition known as Hypertimesia or Supermemory Syndrome. .

Because of this, Rebecca can remember events that have happened since she was a baby! One of her memories, for example, is of a dream she had when she was only one and a half years old. She says that in the dream she felt away from home and, therefore, woke up crying, wanting the cuddle of her mother.

Supermemory

However, this is not your oldest memory - nothing! Rebecca says she remembers exactly the day she was photographed in a car when she was just 12 days old when she was seated in the driver's seat, thanks to an idea from her father.

This exceptional memory makes Rebecca remember everything she has lived in the smallest detail, the books she has read, the movies she has watched and so on. Supermemory Syndrome is so rare that, just to give you an idea, it is estimated that between 20 and 80 people have the same condition worldwide.

My life is a puzzle

Rebecca's memory is so sharp that she can recite all the books in the Harry Potter saga without blinking. Speaking of books, this is exactly your current project: to put on paper the almost unique experience of remembering every moment of your life - possibly a long book comes.

Titled “My life is a puzzle”, the book will also tell how Rebecca realized that her precise memory was not common. She reports that she was surprised to read a memory article years ago that said people usually have memories of events that they lived after only 4 years old.

“On my first birthday, I had no idea what that day was, all I knew was that Mom was putting me in an itchy satin dress and I was crying, even though I heard that was my special day and many people would come to see me. I still don't understand, but I stopped crying at some point. That day my parents also gave me a Minnie Mouse toy whose face terrified me, ”she said.

Scary lucidity

Rebecca says that when she was 18 months old, she began to dream every time she slept, and because of dreams she thought she was actually going out at night often - so she cried and wanted to sleep with her mother nearby.

Having such a keen memory of everything that has happened makes Rebecca often relive her past emotionally, which can be a downside to this experience. This all makes us think, as mere mortals of ordinary memories, of experiences we live and no longer remember. Would you, the reader, want to remember clearly a special moment or day of your early childhood?
