Spanish designer develops commercially viable spray clothing

Imagine you have an appointment scheduled in two hours and you are late. You try to get ready in record time, but you still have that old worry about what clothes you will wear for the occasion. At that moment, instead of exploring your entire wardrobe for that perfect look, you simply pick up a small aluminum can and start spraying fabric on your own body, shaping your clothing freely.

The scene above may sound like science fiction movies, but spray clothes are getting closer to the shelves than you think. Spanish designer Manel Torres, for example, created Fabrican Ltd., a company committed to creating cost-effective solutions for mass production of this type of clothing.

The company recently released a promotional video in which you can see some prototypes in action. Splashed material is a mixture of tiny fibers mixed with solvents and the polymers that assemble all the material. The idea - patented by Torres in 2000 - is not yet ready for everyday application, but is likely to be in a few years.

Is that you? Would you wear a spray suit?
