If you thought that the only thing that goes on in the hands of gymnasts not to slip off the parallel bars is that white powder - magnesium carbonate - know that you are mistaken. According to a report published by The Wall Street Journal, Olympic athletes use a variety of products and mixtures to get their hands glued to the equipment.

In fact, it is a true alchemy, involving mixtures of beer, honey, Coke, melted jelly beans, corn syrup, spit, molasses etc., and each gymnast has his own secret recipe for making the goo stickiest in the world. Some even have the help and technical knowledge of chemists to make these glues.

No restrictions to paste

According to the publication, the International Gymnastics Federation has no specific rules or restrictions related to the gooies that athletes can apply to their hands, so they are free to go crazy and invent any glue that holds them tight to the bars.

In the United States, for example, of all the known gooies for sticking hands on handsets, the biggest favorite is honey, which is, by the way, well known for its skin benefits and widely used by the cosmetics industry.
