Huda stepped off the line to try to stop Sacramento from approaching when he ran into Rodrigues, who was trying to cut the move. The goalkeeper lost consciousness shortly after the impact and was rescued while still in the field. He received oxygen and was referred to Dr. Soegiri Lamongan General Hospital, but died shortly after being admitted.

The goalkeeper made his football debut playing for Persela Lamongan in 1999 and has never left the team. He is believed to have died of head injury or a neck injury. Persela coach Aji Santoso told the press that Huda's death hit the team very hard.

The match continued before Huda's death was confirmed and ended with Lamongan's 2-0 win. The team is 13th in the Indonesian championship, taking a place in the middle of the table. Semen Padang is now in 15th place, the first to escape relegation.

On Twitter, Lamongan declared mourning on the team and paid tribute to Huda, who was considered an idol by the fans. Rodrigues's Instagram was invaded with offensive comments and people calling him a killer. “We never imagined that such fatalities could occur to us, unfortunately it happened, I have no words to describe such a feeling. Huda, I only ask God to bless and comfort your family and welcome you with open arms, ”commented the Brazilian on the social network.
