Waterjet printer is developed in China

Researchers at Nanjing University in China have created a printer that records messages on paper using water instead of ink. The new technology even allows the printing of invisible texts in common light, which is useful for sending secret messages. In addition, they can be easily deleted.

Special paper coated with a manganese compound is used in this process, and the messages can only be read under ultraviolet light. To clear the message, simply heat the paper with a simple hair dryer for a few seconds. After the process, the paper is fully reusable.

Printer Differential

Unlike other technologies available on the market, printing with water and the manganese coating used on paper are environmentally friendly. Invisible inks are mostly non-erasable and made of toxic materials, making water use even more advantageous. Another positive point is the low production value of the coated sheet, estimated at US $ 0.002 (approximately R $ 0.01).

Water, by touching the paper, changes the molecular structure of the manganese compound that coats the paper. By having its brightness altered, the compound becomes similar to black ink under ultraviolet light. Warming the paper, in turn, rearranges the structure of the manganese compound and makes the paper reusable. According to previous research, messages can last up to 3 months, and paper can be reused 30 times.

Unfortunately, the type of ultraviolet light used to display the message can be harmful to humans; and researchers are now looking for solutions that allow the message to be read by visible or infrared light without health hazards.
