Unbelievable! New Island in Japan Looks Like Snoopy

After the mysterious island that emerged from an earthquake in Pakistan, a phenomenon occurring in Japan caught the attention of netizens. Another island is being created thanks to the activity of a volcano located 970 kilometers south of Tokyo.

As if that were no longer incredible enough, the new island - named Niijima - is merging with Nishino-shima Island. According to The Watchers, the only thing that still separates the two territories is a narrow channel whose water has changed color due to the minerals, gases and sediment released by the volcano.

According to National Geographic, the island was noticed on November 20. Since then it has tripled its size and has moved closer and closer to neighboring territory. Because the entire process is proceeding quite rapidly, researchers closely follow the evolution of the phenomenon and record everything with photographs.

When the most recent aerial imagery of the islands was posted on the Internet, netizens quickly recognized the shape of a very famous character: Snoopy. Twitter user @ tekken8810 reinforced the idea by posting one of the island images alongside a drawing of the famous beagle to show similarity, as you see in the opening story.

Excited by the news, other netizens suggested that the island's name be changed to "Snoopy Island" or "Peanuts Island, " as the Kotaku website pointed out. Unfortunately, the volcano that gave rise to the island is still active and is likely to continue to modify the region.
