Young Frenchwoman arrested while crossing US border

Each has a way of easing the stresses of everyday life. Some watch a movie, others have a beer after work, but the most effective method to ward off all toxic thinking is by going for a relaxing run.

If you don't run and think it's overkill, you should experiment to feel the sensation, always being careful about where you go. Young Cedella Roman was not so cautious and ended up in trouble for getting into where she shouldn't go.

Race to prison

Cedella lives in France, but was visiting her mother, who lives in the state of British Columbia in western Canada. One day she decided to go for a light jog in the coastal region of White Rock, known for its natural beauty. Although he knew he was close to the US border, he didn't bother to see if he had crossed the border or not.

Every day people try to enter the US illegally, and Roman was mistaken for one of them. She realized something was wrong when she was approached by a pair of US border police shortly after entering the country. Even though she said she would be back smoothly, explaining that she did not know what was happening because she had accidentally crossed the border, she was arrested in a custody center, as revealed in an interview with CBC News.

As he was without any documents, he believed that his transfer to the place happened because he would need to pay a fine or receive a warning for what happened, needing to wait for someone to bring his identification. It all happened, but not in the way and time she believed.

A race that lasted 2 weeks

The cops asked her to be totally naked, then to be searched. From that moment on, she realized that her mistake had had serious consequences. The arrest took place on May 21, 2018, and the next day she was transferred to a detention center more than 200 kilometers from the border in a specific prisoner car.

On June 5, two weeks later, she was taken to the border and deported to Canada. Although her mother provided all the documentation on the same day as her arrest, it is not known why they had kept the girl in prison for so long. In an interview also with CBC News, the mother said that "she was unfairly arrested because there was no sign indicating the border. Something like this could happen to anyone."

Nonetheless, the US border protection industry representative spoke harshly on the issue, telling the Washington Post that “if an individual enters the United States at a place other than an official point of entry and without inspection as a customs officer, he has entered the country illegally and will be prosecuted accordingly. A person traveling near an international border should be responsible for maintaining awareness of their surroundings and location at all times to ensure that they do not cross the border illegally. ”
