Young people put false ad about themselves at McDonald's and no one noticed

Representativity does matter, and finally we are discussing this subject and understanding that the world, so plural and full of possibilities, cannot be dominated by films, advertisements and fashion campaigns led by people who belong to only one aesthetic standard.

It was by looking around and realizing that he did not see himself and his friends represented that the young Jevh Maravilla, who lives in Pearand, Texas, decided to act creatively and with a great face.

Maravilla always goes to the same McDonald's restaurant and decided it was time to see some advertising that represented Asian customers. To solve the problem, he and a friend took advantage of the fact that one of the walls of the restaurant was without any pictures or advertisements and simply put up a false advertisement with the two Filipinos as brand-name boys.

The fake ad was placed on the empty wall of the restaurant on July 13, and 51 days after the feat Maravilla told the world what she had done through a Twitter post. And then the story soon went viral.

Repercussion

Poster

“We both are not believing how much this is getting attention. I hope this can open the eyes not only of McDonald's, but also of other big companies that can embrace different ethnicities, ”Maravilla told CNN.

The young creative is 21 years old and was born in Texas, but his parents are Filipino immigrants, as is his poster friend, Christian Toledo, 25, who left the Philippines for the US a few years ago.

It took them about 1 month to create the poster, and the hardest part was putting it on the restaurant wall. Maravilla even bought a McDonald's uniform, which she found for sale in a thrift store, and, with the help of two other friends, came to the store saying she was going to fix a new ad on the wall.

It was good

The idea of making this rally right at McDonald's has to do with the fact that the company is world famous, and it could have a big impact eventually.

There was no other! The two were eventually invited to host Ellen Degeneres' program, where they told their story and learned that McDonald's will use both friends in an advertising campaign: “And since you are in a campaign, they [McDonald's] need to pay, so each one will receive a check of $ 25, 000, ”said the presenter, before the incredulous glances of young people.

That's a great success case, huh!
