The desperation of a mother who sees her child in danger is not unique to humans. In a recent record, an elephant mother was seen trying to rescue her calf that had fallen into a well in India.

According to the Daily Mail, the very distressed animal spent about 11 hours next to the hole and trying to reach her baby. The pup was reportedly dropped there at 9 pm and was only removed around 8 am.

Fortunately, villagers in the Chatra region realized what was happening and were able to dig around the hole to facilitate rescue.
