Doctors develop patient's forehead nose in China

Strangely enough, a team of Chinese surgeons made a new artificial nose "grow" on a patient's forehead. According to Mirror, this isn't just another bizarre fashion - do you remember the bagel brows? - but a procedure to create a new nose to replace a boy's organ, seriously deformed due to an infection.

According to the publication, the patient - a 22-year-old boy named by the name Xiaolian alone - sustained nose injuries in a car accident, and the organ became infected due to lack of medical care. As a result, the infection eventually deteriorated the cartilage of the nose, making it impossible for surgeons to rebuild it.

The treatment took place at a hospital in Fuzhou, China, and the artificial nose was created from the patient's own “materials”. First, the medical team placed an expander on the boy's forehead, and the excess skin produced was cut into the organ shape and molded with cartilage removed from his ribs. As the surgeons explained, the nose has developed well and transplantation should occur soon.
