First woman to receive partial face transplant dies

Today, unfortunately, bad news has been circulated: Isabelle Dinoire, the first person to undergo a partial face transplant in the world, has passed away. She was 49 years old and suffering from various complications.

According to information from the vehicle "Le Figaro", the treatments used to prevent a rejection would have caused the onset of cancer. Just before she died, Isabelle lost her lip movements due to a new bout of rejection.

The accident

In 2005, Isabelle was attacked by a dog and lost part of her nose, lips and chin. In the same year, she had the operation to try to reconstruct her face.
