NASA confirms first space mission with women astronauts only

NASA will conduct this month, for the first time in history, a spacewalk with a female-only team. According to CNN, the mission will take place on March 29 at the International Space Station and will feature astronauts Anne McClain and Christina Koch.

In addition to the two, the Earth support team will be led by Canadian Space Agency flight controller Kristen Facciol, who will be responsible for NASA operations at the Johnson Space Center, Texas.

Astronaur Christina Koch will go to the International Space Station on March 14th with Expedition 59. Anne McClain has been in the room since December and is often posting photos taken from there on her Twitter.

The two will take a seven-hour walk on the 29th, which will be the second of three planned by the US agency. On the 22nd, McClain will explore the space along with astronaur Nick Hague and one more team.

According to NASA spokeswoman Stephanie Schierholz, the mission the astronauts will take part in was planned to take place during the fall of the northern hemisphere, but its date has been changed. The team's work will serve to "advance the scientific knowledge of Earth, space, physics and the biological sciences."

Koch and McClain graduated from NASA's 2013 astronaut class and, in addition to being able to perform at the International Space Station, also have training for possible trips to Mars. With this, perhaps the two also star more historical achievements in the near future.
