New species of crustacean will be called Bob Marley

Even after 30 years of Bob Marley's death, the singer still has many fans around the world. One such reggae connoisseur is researcher Paul Sikkel, responsible for discovering a new species of crustacean - and naming the animal as the artist.

According to Sikkel, the honor was not simply for his musical taste. In addition, the crustacean lives in the region where Marley was born and is an important discovery for marine studies. Therefore, it was necessary to choose a name with the same relevance.

The "new" animal is very small and lives on the blood of the various fish that live in the Caribbean reefs. The small crustaceans hunt in groups, hiding among corals and algae. As soon as a fish appears, they cling to the animal and spread through its body. That way everyone can eat and live longer - minus the fish, of course.

The problem is that we will never know if Bob Marley would like to have his name used by a "bloodsucker".
