The luxury hotel that has become a tourist spot for haunters

Every city has a special place that is surrounded by spooky mysteries and legends. In Bali, a luxury hotel built in the mountains of Bedugal's central highlands has become a must for travelers to the region and enjoying ghost and curse stories.

It is unclear when the site - which was designed to receive a high-income public - was abandoned and left at the mercy of the storm.

Built in the 1990s, Bedugul Taman Rekreasi Hotel & Resort has turned into ruins: a grand ballroom, huge dining rooms, greenery-covered balconies, and rooms with breathtaking panoramic views.

Among the many legends surrounding the place, they say that it was closed even before the inauguration. The owner? Perhaps an Indonesian royalty or perhaps Tommy Suharto, son of the late President Suharto. Some bet on the rumor of a corrupt owner who would have put a curse on his competitors and watched his wealth fade as a punishment for greed.

Some locals go even further, telling stories of how local workers disappear overnight, leaving only ghosts and demons to wander the empty corridors.

Strangely enough, the real story behind the famous ghost hotel is still hard to verify. Most likely it was actually built by Tommy, who was eventually arrested in 2002 after being convicted of ordering the Indonesian Supreme Court judge, who had tried him for corruption, to be killed.
