Optimus Prime turns PSOne into new action figure for next year

Everyone is used to seeing the Transformers series Optimus Prime (whose latest movie recently debuted) turn into a truck. But next year, in celebration of PlayStation's 20th anniversary, we will see the franchise's robot become an object that has been part of many people's lives: a PSOne.

Also called the PlayStation only, the console hit US land in September 1995 and production stopped only in 2006, when Sony had reached the 100 million-unit mark.

This Optimus Prime action figure will be produced in partnership with Tomy Taraka, a famous toy manufacturer. The doll's name will be “Optimus Prime Featuring Original PlayStation” and will be 19 inches tall when configured in its Autobot form. As many may be wondering, unfortunately authoring will not work as a console.

Another interesting curiosity is the fact that the main antagonist of the series, Megatron, is also being designed to turn into a Mega Drive. Looking at these toys, it would be very interesting to see the console war being represented through the natives of Cybertron. Unfortunately there is no availability information for any of the dolls.
