Medical Call: 11 actors who participated in RE and you may not know

Better known by the Brazilian public as Medical Duty, ER aired for 15 seasons (1994-2009) and shows the daily life of doctors, nurses and other professionals who work at County General Hospital, a fictional Chicago hospital.

The original cast as starring characters were Anthony Edwards (Dr. Mark Greene), George Clooney (Dr. Doug Ross), Sherry Stringfield (Dr. Susan Lewis), Noah Wyle (John Carter Medical Student), Eriq La Salle (Dr. Peter Benton) and Julianna Margulies (Nurse Carol Hathaway). As might be expected in such long productions, some actors have kept up over the years, but several have left, and some have gone and returned! Yeah. In addition, there were those who appeared for small stakes.

In the midst of it all, we selected 11 names that went through ER briefly and became well known in the world of movies and series. Check it out!

1. Bellamy Young

The actress is best known for her role as Melody “Mellie” Grant on ABC's Scandal. She even won the 2014 Best Supporting Actress Award in a drama series at the Critic's Choice Awards. What a lot of people don't know, though, is that 13 years earlier Young made a cameo in ER, which at that time was showing his 8th season. In the episode "If I Should Fall From Grace, " she plays Grace, a medical and law student who goes to the hospital to consult.

2. Ewan McGregor

In 1997, in the middle of ER season 3 (episode “The Long Way Around”), there was Ewan McGregor playing Duncan, a Scottish who runs a convenience store and holds hostages, including Nurse Carol Hathaway (Julianna Margulies).

Prior to that, in 1996, the actor starred in one of his biggest hits, the movie Trainspotting - No Limits. Years later would come other widely known titles, such as Moulin Rouge (2001) and Angels and Demons (2009).

3. Harry Lennix

Also in Season 3, who gave the air of grace was Harry Lennix, who played Dr. Greg Fischer in 6 episodes. Following came other works, including appearances in Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions (2003), such as Commander Lock. More recently, we can find him in the role of Harold Cooper, from The Blacklist, a series that has been airing since 2013 and has been renewed for the 6th grade.

4. Jessica Capshaw

It is misleading to think that Grey's Anatomy was the first medical series in which Jessica Capshaw participated. In 1999, she was cast in ER's episode “Rites of Spring, ” the 19th of Season 5, as Sally McKenna.

5. Jonathan Banks

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul fans know this face well: Mike Ehrmantraut! But the actor already has a long career, which includes appearances in other famous series, such as CSI, Dexter, Cold Case, Two and a Half Men, Parks and Recreation and ER. In the case of the medical series, our focus here, he played Robert Truman in the episode "Atonement" of season 14, in which he delivered a very intense performance.

6. Julie Delpy

The actress - famous for the incredible Before Dawn (1995), Before Sunset (2004) and Before Midnight (2013), starring Ethan Hawke - participated in 7 episodes of ER in 2001, season 8. She played Nicole, a waitress who ends up getting involved with Luka (Goran Visnjic).

7. Lucy Liu

Three years before breaking into Ally McBeal, Lucy Liu participated in 3 episodes of Season 2 of ER, playing Mei-Sun Leow, mother of a boy with AIDS.

8. Miles Heizer

Today he is best known for playing Drew Holt in Parenthood and living Alex Standall in the controversial 13 Reasons Why. However, a lot of people are unaware that he was in 4 episodes of season 14 of ER, playing Joshua Lipnicki, a young patient who knows he is dying, but tries to hide the fact from his mother.

9. Octavia Spencer

Just 2 years after starting her professional career, Octavia Spencer appeared as patient Maria Jones in an episode of Season 5. So far, the actress of Stars Beyond Time is tied with Viola Davis in the area's most award-winning black actress.

10. Shia LaBeouf

The talented - but controversial - actor, famous for titles such as Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010), Paranoia (2007) and Constantine (2005), also participated in ER before all that. It was in 2000, when he played Season 6 patient Darnell Smith, who suffered from muscular dystrophy.

11. Zac Efron

And it's been more than 10 years since the actor became known worldwide for the role (and singing) of Troy Bolton in High School Musical. Since then, he has matured and has faced several other works, such as the movies The King of the Show (2017) and A Man of Luck. In 2003, a few years earlier, Zac Efron participated in ER on Season 10's episode “Dear Abby”.
