Why do men with brown or blond hair sometimes have red beard?

There are not many natural redheads around the world, and the same cannot be said of men with red beards - they come even when boys have brown, black or blond hair, have you noticed?

According to expert Petra Haak-Bloem, who spoke about the issue with The Independent, this is because of a genetic mutation. She explained that a person's hair color does not depend on just one gene: "The same genes can express themselves differently to anyone, " he said.

"This allows for many possibilities, one of which is that the color of your head hair is different from the color of your underarm, pubic or beard hair, " he added.

Genetic Guilt

It is still possible, of course, that red beard is an inheritance inherited from parents, grandparents, and even more distant relatives. Beard coloring always depends on the individual's genetic combination, and this combination can also be completely random.

Haak-Bloem explained that one particular gene, MC1R, is known to make hair color red. Having a red beard when the rest of the body hair is another color is an indication that this MC1R gene has mutated.

The expert recalled that there are no conclusive studies that are specific on the subject - let's face it: there are more urgent issues than this.

In terms of percentages, only 2% of people have the red hair gene, and most of these individuals live in northern Europe. Regarding the MC1R gene mutation, the percentage tends to be even lower, which means that having a red beard and hair of another color is really rare.
